Saturday Evening:
The Lanes (722 Western Ave). This will be a casual evening, too. Start time at 6:00 p.m. Each person will be responsible for their food and beverage.
Lanes/Bowling detail:
-Lanes close at midnight, bar closes at 2 a.m.
-Facility will be open to the general public with the exception of the cafeteria which will be
dedicated solely to our class.
- Full food menu – they believe they will be able to accommodate us without much (if any)
delay, but hopefully everyone won’t want to eat at the same time (10 or less at a time is
ideal, depending on what we order).
- They are initially reserving four lanes for us at 6 p.m, and will add more if/as needed. Cost
per lane is $30 p/hour, and you can have up to six bowlers per lane (4 is probably more
realistic). At 9 p.m. they set aside ten additional lanes for “Spark Bowling” ($40 p/hour)
where the lights are turned down. They are also including free shoe rental which is both unusual and
generous. The bowling alley will be open to the public, but our lanes are going to be
set aside – use or lose.
Please Note: The Lanes management is doing this entire event at NO ADDITIONAL COST beyond the food, drink, bowling fees noted above. This is not the norm(!) so we ask '78 classmates and guests to keep this in mind, have patience (if needed), and appreciate that the venue staff and management are really going above and beyond to accommodate us and make this a great event for our class. Hopefully we will all tip accordingly!
One last note - At times The Lanes venue is kept chilly, so people may want to keep that in mind. That said, if we get a big crowd, that’s definitely going to warm things up! As we know, Life in South Dakota = be prepared for any kind of 'weather'!
Cost:
$10.00/person for a portion or the entire reunion. $10.00 for a '78 classmate attendee and $10.00 for spouse/partner/date/adult guest.
Regarding Costs for reunion: The monies/gifts that are collected will be used to support the group as we look toward future events and continue our practice of sending memorials/gifts at the time of death of one off our classmates.
Hotels:
There are rooms blocked for our class at Hampton Inn ($209 for a standard room and $229 for a studio suite) and Comfort Inn Suites ($130.00). Both hotels include breakfast. Rooms must be reserved by May 26, 2023. After this date, the rooms will be released to the public.
